The Ministry Of Defence has announced sub-contracts worth over £52m for the two Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers.
The sub-contract for the Cable Transit Frames has been placed with MCT Brattberg Ltd, by BVT Surface Fleet on behalf of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance.
The QE Class Aircraft Carriers will become the new flagships of the British fleet when they enter service with each ship weighing 65,000 tonnes at full displacement and measuring 280m in length and 70m in width, 56m from keel to masthead and 9 decks deep plus flight deck.
The ships aircraft hanger is 160m in length and 28.5m wide can hold 36 Joint Strike Fighters and four Airborne Early Warning aircraft can be embarked, which is double the aircraft capacity of the current CVS carriers.
The Carriers will have a crew of up 1,600 who will have a range of recreational facilities, when off-duty, such as a cinema, weight training and fitness gym, e-mail and internet access.
